Country Dining

Lye Head main

This rural garden is designed with dining and relaxing in mind,  enjoying a sunny part of the garden. All planting is within raised beds or containers to avoid damage by rabbits, and designed to blend with the countryside setting.

A large rustic arch of coppiced wood, flanked by matching fencing, all bespoke and locally made, provides access to the house and dining area from the drive. Stepping stone slabs form a path to the door through the gravel.  A circular paved patio of natural sandstone, enclosed on three sides by a raised bed of reclaimed bricks and set into the slope, provides space for a large dining table. Beyond each corner of the raised bed two multi-stemmed silver birch trees provide height, whilst the angled corners of the bed lead the eye up the grassy slope to a water feature in the centre of the garage wall, flanked by raised beds planted with climbers and flowering plants.

A further rustic arch and fence screen the shed.   Planting is selected to provide year-round interest and colour, as well as fragrance.
