The Den Garden

Curvaceous, open areas contrast with secluded spaces and the formal lines of vertical structures, which create hidden, enclosed “rooms” for exploration, play and relaxation in this family garden.  Trellis screens and a pergola divide up the long linear space, hiding areas of natural, wilder and abundant planting which harbour a children’s den, reached through a ‘tunnel’ of bamboo, and a secret rustic seating area.

The large, curving lawn allows children to play freely, while the firm path which borders it enables tricycles to be ridden to the bark-surfaced play area, beyond the view of grown-ups enjoying the evening sun on the upper seating area.
